Get Hitched Give Hope 2014!

October 23 was a big day for Parker Events & many other Seattle wedding planners! Get Hitched Give Hope (GHGH) is a large and gorgeous collaborative event put on by multiple wedding industry peeps from the Seattle area. This gala provides a unique opportunity for brides and grooms to partake in a very exciting opportunity to make their wedding dreams a reality, and the dreams of two special foundations come true as well. GHGH donates its proceeds to The Dream Foundation and Young Survivor Coalition. The event is run entirely by volunteers, allowing us to make the donations as big as possible! Parker Events has been honored to be a part of GHGH since its inception!  This year Brooke & Jubal of Movin' 92.5's morning show and Stokes Auction Group helped us raise over $110,000 for charity! Keep up with us at the Get Hitched Give Hope website for more events and ways to donate! Just in case you weren't already convinced, check out how amazing the event was! Visit the Get Hitched Give Hope Facebook page for more pictures!

Brooke & Michael's Fun Parade

Brooke & Michael Fox, two of the most fun, most generous & kindest people you will ever meet! I first met Brooke through volunteering for Get Hitched Give Hope. We became fast friends & I was honored when she asked for my help in planning her & Michael's wedding. Fun does not even begin to convey the planning process & overall theme of their great day! From the start she had a vision of what she wanted but was joyously flexible in adding new ideas. Enjoy!

Not one, but two grogeous dresses! Brooke actually shortened the second dress & wore it to Get Hitched Give Hope 2013.

Putting on the final touches.

Michael's mom is a jewelry & metals artist. She made these & the rings!

Pops of vibrant peacock blue, yellow, gold & red were incorporated.

Can you not see how much fun these people are having?!?

The ladies were left to their own devices in finding a dress they could not live without. Brooke gave them the color range & then they took care of the rest. They all decided to have the same shoes to bring the looks together.

The happy couple on Maine Street in Spirit Lake, ID.

Heather of Heathoriginal created this custom banner (& aisle decor) for the ceremony which was, wait for it...a parade!

A look at the ceremony down Maine Street.

Brooke & Michael were incredibly creative & resourceful! They made a lot of their own decor. This aisle runner included!

Guests gathered at a nearby park & collected noise makers while grabbing a refreshment. Some brought their own, displaying their special talents. There was a drumline, high school marching band, family members that were baton & flag twirlers & to top it off Michael rode in on a camel!

The sweetest little flower girl, Brooke's niece. I honestly, could have taken her home.

Once everyone had found their seat, Brooke arrived by this beauty!

After the ceremony guests "paraded" with their chair a block to Brooke's childhood home. Again, the crafty couple made all the signage, centerpiece containers & pie plates. Guests were also entertained by numerous yard games.

Instead of a guest book, guests wrote messages on the rocks left at each place setting. Which also conviently held down their napkins.

Craftyness must run in the family, because Brooke's dad turned the childhood placehouse into a bar & strung market lights across the yard as well as countless other little projects.

Brooke's mom could have easily had a successful career in event planning, interior design & in general making things beautiful. This antique scale is one of her personal pieces.

Brooke & Michael really wanted to use as many local vedors as possible & they found this gem of a caterer in Spokane. It was a delicious dinner.

A self serve pie bar fulfilled guests sweet tooth. It was soooo good.

Made with love by Carla Fox.

Love this Fox & Fox fire pit.

Want to pin that? Could be risky.

Sad news friends. Have you heard of Pinterest? That bright, beautiful, lovely hole that you can fall into & become addicted within seconds? Yeah, that one.

Well, it turns out that it is super scary in legal terms...being almost illegal, yes, I said ILLEGAL! My good friend & fabulously talented Becca Ellison of Rebecca Ellison Photography has already blogged about this & since she did such an amazing job I am providing the link here: http://www.rebeccaellisonblog.com/

Of course if you are pinning from say, an online magazine or anything that has a huge circulation, you are probably safe. Pinning directly from a photographer's website, not so safe. Photographers make their living from their pictures & taking them without permission is a HUGE deal! How would you like it if someone took your work without asking or paying for it? I know I wouldn't. This is why Pinterest can be dangerous. If you are pinning work that hasn't been approved or you do not give credit to the photographer (granted that is not a safety net) then you could be sued. Yep, sued.

So friends, be careful what you pin & give credit where credit is due!

Return of the Absent Blogger & August Vintage Fun

Ah, it is the end of February & I have finally gotten to one (yes, one) of my New Year's resolutions...blogging! It's not like I haven't had things to do; planning gorgeous celebrations & intimate affairs can keep a girl occupied. But this is something that I "want" to do & therefore need to make a better effort (please do not judge me if I fail miserably in the first months).

To start: one of my favorite events this past summer.

Bonnie & Chris, Eclectic Vintage Perfection

Getting ready & first photos at the iconic Sorrento Hotel

Menswear by The Tux Shop

Bonnie's mother maid her dress from inspiration from bhldn.com

Bonnie is a graphic designer by day & not only designed all of the paper, but made it too! Yes, she meant to "put a bird on it"

Gorgeous bud vases & flowers provided by the amazing Kimberly Neff at Lilies & Lemon Drops

This lovely & delicious creation was made by the gifted Bonnie Lyons of New Renaissance Cakes

Georgetown Ballroom provided the perfect setting for this unique party

To say that Bonnie & Chris love to dance is a huge understatement. They were lucky enough to have friends who were also awesome DJ's by night.
